SUCCESSION PLANNING

When a key executive or individual contributor retires or moves on, many companies are not prepared to quickly name a competent successor simply because they haven't thought much about it.

Some of the key factors to consider are personality, work style, emotional intelligence, motivation, knowledge and experience. Other key factors include the company's issues, problems and challenges that must be dealt with in the marketplace for the successor and company to achieve success.

Our role in succession planning is to meet with all parties who have a vested interest in the outcome of the succession plan to obtain a full debrief on the situation and gain a full understanding of the challenge for the successor and the strengths that he/she must bring to the game.

After the debrief, we help develop a new position description and assess potential internal and external candidates against that new description.
